Thoughts on Inside Out Movies
You know, the ones that personify feelings and prompt the questions...what if your brain was an office where all your emotions were forced to work together?"
In Inside Out, we were introduced to the five universal emotions shown by the research of Dr. Paul Ekman: Fear, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, and Joy.
They each play a unique role for our main character, Riley. Fear and Anger help her determine her flight-or-flight response. Disgust helps her stay away from unsavory situations. Joy helps her stay away from painful experiences and seek out happy ones. Sadness helps sher gain empathy and sympathy in times of loss.
Have you seen it? If so, what feeling resonated with you?
As I learned at The Life Coach School, there are no good or bad feelings, it’s our thoughts that make them so.
In Inside Out 2, Riley has new emotions. Afterall she's a teenager now.
We are introduced to Anxiety, Envy, Nostalgia, Ennui (representing boredom...hello eye rolls!) Anxiety is just trying to keep Riley safe and even Nostalgia makes an appearance.
If you are into mindset management, personality traits, and self-awareness, check them out. If you'd like to explore more words to name feelings, download this Feelings Wheel. Then see if you can identify the thoughts creating the feeling.

Thankful for YOU playlist!
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It reminds me of how impactful a gratefulness practice can be. I created my Thankful for YOU playlist in 2021, as a thank you gift to all my amazing clients, colleagues, friends and family who enrich my life all year long. Each year I update it with new songs but it maintains a theme of happiness and gratefulness. Something to play when making dinner, on a drive, whenever you need a pick me up. Enjoy!
Graphic Facilitation
Have you ever participated in a workshop, conference, off-site, retreat, and felt like saying, "This was fun, but nothing ever comes of these things afterward." One way to capture all those great ideas and actually DO something with them is to engage a graphic facilitator for your event.
StrengthsFinder Team Profile Chart

Turn Your Everyday Space into Collaboration Space
As the new year unfolds, think about making the most of time spent communicating with those around you, those you work and live with. It can be as easy as providing a space for everyone to "think out loud". In this post, we'll explore what it takes to transform your everyday space into a space that enables brainstorming, creativity, dare I say, innovation, and most importantly understanding. With an investment of time, some planning, and a few (or a lot of!) dollars, you can transform the way you work with colleagues, students, clients, volunteer organizations, even family members!
